The beginning

I measured my days by what I finished.

For most of my adult life, I measured my days by what I finished — years at Tencent and Alibaba, moving between Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Beijing at the pace those cities run on. I do not regret that life. But time had become something I spent, not something I lived in.

香 Chapter I

Then I began studying traditional Chinese incense.

Then I began studying traditional Chinese incense with more than one teacher. I learned how woods, herbs and resins are chosen, ground and blended — and that a bead of blended incense passes through twelve or more steps: natural powder bound with a plant-based binder, shaped, then dried in shade until it is ready. You can ask yourself to move faster. You cannot ask the plants to. Some things cannot be hurried — and a day that holds one unhurried thing holds a little peace. That discovery changed how I live, and eventually what I make.

名 Chapter II

QINGYUN — 清昀.

QINGYUN — 清昀 — means a clear heart and the soft light of early morning. Our name holds a simple preference: that even in a fast, loud life, you keep the ability to notice things.

艺 Chapter III

We translate Chinese incense culture into contemporary life.

Rooted in traditional Chinese aesthetics and time-honored incense-making craft, and shaped to the tastes, trends and inner needs of young people around the world, we translate Chinese incense culture into contemporary life across four lines. Scented Jewelry: incense beads (He Xiang Zhu), plaques and pendants of blended natural incense, made to be worn. Incense: sticks and traditional blends. Incenseware & Accessories: censers and holders for everyday rooms. And Gift Sets & Customization for retailers, hotels and brand partners.

The craft behind these objects matters deeply to us.

We work with traditional incense makers and artisans connected to China’s intangible cultural heritage traditions. Some pieces are made by their hands, others take shape under their guidance, and others come from the specialist workshops we collaborate with. What brings them together is a shared respect for natural materials, skilled hands, and the time each process requires. The development, design and packaging of every piece is shaped by QINGYUN.

Today

For me, incense is not about making grand promises.

For me, incense is not about making grand promises. It is about something smaller and more personal — finding a quiet moment within an ordinary day.

We are also building a digital museum of Chinese incense culture, planned to launch alongside our product showroom, because we believe a culture deserves to be understood as well as used.

We share our collections with retailers, hotels and lifestyle partners who value the same things: honest materials, patient craft, and design that lets an old culture live comfortably in a modern day.
